Workshop: Spoon & Spatula Carving with Simon from Blended Monkey

A relaxing & immersive day learning how to carve a large serving spoon or spatula (or both) while seated on your own safe “spoon mule” – designed so you are always comfortably cutting away from your body. No experience necessary.

Date: Saturday 24 July

Time: 10.00 – 4.00 pm

Suitable for children 14+ accompanied by an adult.

Discover how to:

- Use a spoke shave to create your own handle design and

- A curved carving tool to make the bowl of the spoon.

- Enjoy the mindful nature of shaving the wood using the spoke shave. It’s very therapeutic and you can achieve a relaxing state of flow.

- Weather permitting, the workshop will take place outside in the Haddenham Arts Centre gardens or in the large indoor workshop.

At the end of the session, you will have created a beautiful serving spoon/spatula or “spoontula” to be proud of!

Lunch: workshop participants are entitled to a 10% discount in the onsite cafe - do pre-order when you arrive and let the staff know you are a student - or you are of course welcome to bring your own packed lunch or use facilities in the village.
